PLLA is Our Pal

Ever heard of Sculptra®? It’s one of the PLLA products out there that can be used as dermal fillers..but aren’t exactly like the other dermal fillers. If you’ve been following along with our recent blog posts you may recall that there are different types of dermal fillers that are not just hyaluronic acid-based.  Sculptra® is an example of a “bio-stimulator” and works differently than the fillers you might get in your lips or cheeks. When PLLA is injected into a treatment area,  the poly-l lactic acid particles slowly stimulate collagen production and provides the patient with gradual results over a term of up to 2 years! Your body will be aided in producing collagen.

The TLDR:;

Why PLLA is our Pal:

  • Works by rebuilding and reinforcing your skin’s structural foundation
  • Achieves correction of shallow to deep nasolabial fold contour deficiencies and other facial wrinkles.
  • Improvement in sagging resulting in a less “tired” look; including regions around the mouth and peri-orbital (eye) regions.
  • Improvement in skin elasticity and reinforcing support
  • Increasing volume in the temple region
  • Softening of the marionette lines

How it works:

The small micro-particles of PLLA cause a controlled inflammatory process that aims to stimulate “endogenous” collagen - which basically means your body’s own produced collagen! Common areas of indicated use include temples, cheeks, marionette lines, pre jowl sulcus and others. There are certain “no-fly” zones that PLLA can be injected to that filler CAN be injected into. It doesn’t provide the same instant plumping or volume that dermal fillers do after an appointment but over time, volume in your face will begin to show itself off!

Who is a good candidate?:

People with healthy immune systems that want to target aging skin, facial wrinkles and particularly with shallow to deep nasolabial folds. Normally for patients who are over 30 years young and over.
