What is Sculptra?

Why would someone pick this treatment over other injectables? Are you a good candidate for this treatment? We all have questions about specific treatments in medical aesthetics world that have been increasing in popularity over time.

Sculptra was first approved in 1999, and it is a type of dermal filler. It is a gel-like substance made of poly-L-lactic acid. It is a collagen stimulator which ​thickens the dermis (second layer of the skin) by acting as a dermal matrix.

It provides long-lasting, natural looking results that can last up to two years. Sculptra is sometimes used on the body to smooth out depressions and dimples in the skin, such as cellulite. It can add volume to specific parts of the body as well. The most common areas of the body it gets used is the buttocks and hips. How many treatment sessions you would need for the best results is determined after a proper assessment of the area during consultation.

Three treatments are usually the minimum for what is recommended (spaced around a month apart). A lot of patients notice volume loss in their face as they age, and these are the patients that will benefit most from this treatment. Since this filler doesn’t deliver its full results for several months, it’s not a great option if you’re in search of a quick-fix treatment before an event.

The body gradually produces new collagen over time, so you will notice the appearance of your skin becoming better with time and patience. Because of the gradual onset of results and the long-lasting improvement it offers, this filler makes a great component of a long-term anti-aging regimen.

Post treatment massages are recommended during the first few days after (5-minutes, 5-times a day, for 5-days after treatment). This “massage” should consist of mid-pressure rubbing all along the injection sites. The goal of it is to ease the product into place, ensure that the injectable solution is smooth, level and evenly distributed inside the skin for the most natural looking results.
